THE BEATLES - ELEANOR RIGBY (Lennon & McCartney) From
REVOLVER album. Released on 25th August
1966.
-----------------------------------------------------
George Martin used a string octet (4 violins, 2 violas
and 2 chelli) with a four part score from his own pen
for this song. It is a great and innovating theme, with
good lyrics, only a little somber, and it shows Martin's
good taste, fine ear and impressive arranging & writing
skills, by which he should have earned the credit of
"original cum creator" of Macca's piece. The lyrics were
a group effort.
Tune -Low E string down to lower C and -A string down to
F to be able to play the chelli (you won't use those two
strings to play the rest). I think that with a couple of
guitars a great rendition of this song can be achieved.
Aaaah look at all the lonely people
Aaaah look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church
Where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window
Wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon
That no one will hear
No one comes near
Look at him working
Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Aaaah look at all the lonely people
Aaaah look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried
Along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands
As he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
