This is just the way I do it, so I doubt that its how the Dead do
it.  It sounds GRATE with two guitars, though.

 Then go back and repeat the whole tab, but on the third time

   around, skip the -5-5- part on Fig. # 1.  I think four times

   around total, is enough to sound pretty good.  Enjoy!
