Notes on techniques for novices. Generally, try to use the middle finger of you RH for

on G-string & Index finger for pops on D-string. # Try to hold down (i.e. stop) both the D & G-strings on the 9th fret with your index finger: this will allow you to play the phrase faster (The Marcus Miller song Power uses this technique with all of the strings being barred at the 7th fret position). Note the use of slides between notes which adds to the fluidity of the piece. Learn the bass line slowly at first to ensure proper technique before speeding up.
