Metallica - Fuel Tab

Metallica: Reload - Track 1: Fuel

Fuel... looking at the Tab, listening or watching the song might seem
hard... but really it isn't. I learned this on acoustic (including the

Solo) by reading the official Reload book, however this is my version.

If you've got an electric guitar, then great. All you need is a

Distortion pedal and a Wah effects pedal (for lead that is). The solo

at the end shouldn't be hard for anyone with acoustic, even though it gets kind of high. I recommend playing the notes written as a bend played on the fret where the bend would lead to. For eg. 17+ (1 Whole step). For that part, just move up and hit fret 19 instead of the bend. It's ridiculous trying to bend a note like that on Acoustic with no cut-away. People with electric... you should have no problems (varying on skill). Like the sheet music, it's written in 4/4. ~ - Let ring (Hold for as long as possible) s - Slide to required note p - Pull off x - Dead String [] - Continued Note from Last Bar ^ - Bend note 1/4 ^^^ - Bend note 3/4 ^^ - Bend note 1/2 ^^^^ - Bend note 1 Semitone. + - Bend 1 Whole Step (2 Semitones, Eg. fret 17 to 19) This is the part that tricks people. If you can't get the pull-offs right then start picking each note separately. 8 notes in just over a second isn't really that fast. Opening Lyrics: "Give me fuel, Give me Fire, Give me that which I desire, Ooh!" 0:03

Guitar Solo - Double Guitars

Distorted Electric - James (Guitar 1) Distorted Electric - Kirk (Guitar 2)

This is definitely one of Metallica's easiest solos. It runs through

the same shape as the rest of the song. On a steel string acoustic (with no cut-away) it can still be easily achieved. Nylon players will have a tougher job. Just because I'm saying it's easy doesn't mean you will be able to master it as fast as other people. For sure, this part is the highlight of the song. Add vibrato whenever there's a long hold on a note. Also make sure you notice the bends are done slowly at the beginning. 2:52

Outro - Double Guitars

Distorted Electric - James (Guitar 1) Distorted Electric - Kirk (Guitar 2)

I've only tabbed out Kirk's outro riff because James is playing the

Chorus riff (2 times). Here's the whole riff. The very first note of

the whole thing can be played as an open note on the first e string to give you time to run up the fret board (Kirk actually does this when he's playing). Play the starred section once, then play Part I. Play the starred section again, then play Part II. ~~ LET ALL NOTES RING FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE ~~
