2. Song structure and lyrics: The structure of the song is very simple. It has a so-called AAA-form,

Which simply consists of three repeated verses. So there's no chorus

And no bridge. The necessary contrast comes from the "normal" guitar

And the slide-guitar. They both play backings and solo's.

Intro: |F5 |F5 |

Verse 1:

I [F5]felt in need of some lovin' So I [C5]sat down on a wall I tried to find a reason for living But I [F5]couldn't find a reason at all So I [Bb5]owned up to my maker And I [F5]started to say a prayer I [C5]waited for an answer But there [F5]wasn't anybody there.

Short slide solo:

|C5 |C5 |Bb5 |F5 |

Verse 2:

I [F5]thought there should have been someone But I [C5]wasn't quite sure who It finished me to find there was no one That I could [F5]take my troubles to So I [Bb5]knelt down by my bedside And I [F5]started to say a prayer It was [C5]when I asked for nothing I could [F5]feel that there was somebody there.

Middle slide solo:

|C5 |C5 |F5 |F5 |C5 |C5 |Bb5 |F5 |

"Plain" solo:

F5 F5 C5 C5 C5 C5 F5 F5
Bb5 Bb5 F5 F5 C5 C5 Bb5 F5
Strum the chord once in the last bar, hold it and start to boogie again: |F5 |F5 |F5 |F5 |F5 |F5 |F5 |F5 |

Verse 3:

I'm [F5]looking still but it's easy 'Cos I [C5]know which way to go It doesn't matter how long it takes me 'cos there's [F5]someone there to help me who knows All the [Bb5]things that I am after All the [F5]lovin' that I want to share it's [C5]so hard but I don't mind 'cos there [F5]really is somebody there.

Repeat verse 1

Slide solo and the ending:

|C5 |C5 |F5 |F5 |C5 |C5 |Bb5 | With half time feel (time of two beats is now one beat): |F E Eb|Bb5 |C5 | |F F7 Bb Bbm |F F#7 F7 |
