Standard (EADGBE)
when my great aunt Jean died
it was her house that I eyed
moved my stuff in almost straight away
I put down new fancy floors
and painted walls and doors
making the place mine to stay.
it washed away
it washed away
my house on Charlotte street it washed away
sewage came up the drain
'cause there was a bit of rain
and the pump station wasn't turned on anyway
I had lots of dear things there
Mr insurance man I swear
those 16 play-stations are destroyed
and that antique Toby jug
not to mention my cashmere rug
and even all my doggies little toys
they washed away
they washed away
everything that I held dear
the floors have started lifting
and I need a brand new kitchen
and lots of Febreeze to make the bad smell disappear
well I moved to higher ground
with what salvage I had found
just this guitar and my dog poppy
and I wrote down this hear song
because the days are awful long
when all your stuff has been washed out to sea
it washed away
it washed away
because of the bloody water-board
I spend my time driving round
sticking to higher ground
I think I saw my house float past Greenore
this has happened thrice before
and I'm sure it will happen more
I've photos taken so the damage can be seen
I'm going to sue the board
and with my nice reward
I might just buy myself a submarine
