A wave came swept me off of the deck

Angry sea gives and takes it away

I kept on swimming, singing, searching for an island or garden to lie in

The rain kept on falling on to my arms and legs

They anchored me to slate gray water

The albatross around my neck made it

Hard to look up to see the sky

I dreamt of the sand of your beach where I’d come ashore

Wake up a little saddle soar but make it home

I was smashed somewhere in between

A murky sky and the coming tide, the coming tide

Everyday the same swimming, sinking, feeling

We rose, my rose but we did a lot of falling

As they pulled me from their nets, stood on the deck

Arms out stretched to the horizons where I saw you

Sailing over oceans frozen in your doorway and me

Stumbling down your streets speaking

Incoherently with the night

I was dreaming of your white sand

unblackened by time and time again

Where I could find some common ground to kiss and call my own
