Standard (EADGBE)

The night was dark, your lights were bright

You pulled me over, I wasn't feeling so right

Stepped out to the car, rolled my window down

Handed you my license, registration with a frown

But I could tell by the look in your eyes

That you'd be going for a ride in the passenger side

And you wouldn't be issuing any citations

But you tore me out the car

Pulled my arms back too far

Made me walk the line and shined that flashlight in my eyes

Made me say the alphabet backwards with your cuffs in arm

Searched my pockets and took all my bud

You know the night is dark and lonely

Without you by my side

I hear your sirens, run and hide

I didn't mean to write that ransom note

It was just a joke, so I could see you again

And how many times must I rob a liquor store, to see you more

To just be friends

But when you pull up to that crime scene

I knew it wouldn't nice but oh so mean

When you pull out your cuffs and give me all your affection

But you tore me out the car

Pulled my arms back too far

Made me walk the line and shined that flashlight in my eyes

Made me say the alphabet backwards with your cuffs in arm

Searched my pockets and took all my bud

You know the night is dark and lonely

Without you by my side

I hear your sirens, I hear your sirens

I hear your sirens, run and hide
